Idea — Decision-making tasks — ‘agree on X’ — have a natural endpoint, require genuine exchange of views, and generate negotiation language without a script.
Example — ‘Agree on which three items you would take to a desert island, and explain your choices.’ Learners must justify, listen, and compromise. The language of discussion appears because the task demands it.
Try — Design a decision-making task for your class this week. Criteria: everyone must contribute; the answer is not obvious; defending your position requires real reasoning.
