Idea — Drilling establishes pronunciation and form. Choral drilling — whole class together — lowers anxiety and lets learners rehearse without exposure. Individual drilling checks and consolidates.

Example — Teacher: ‘I haven’t seen him.’ (gesture) All together: ‘I haven’t seen him.’ Then nominate: ‘Maria.’ Then: ‘David.’ Build confidence before putting individuals on the spot.

Try — Drill one phrase from your next lesson: say it, gesture for choral, then nominate three individuals. Ensure each gets it before you move on. The whole sequence takes under 90 seconds.
