ELT365 · Day 187 — Monitoring during speaking tasks

📚60-Day ELT Masterclass — This post is part of an ongoing series. View full index →

Idea — During speaking tasks, the teacher circulates without intervening. Note language use — good and problematic — for delayed feedback. Sitting at the desk kills momentum.

Example — During a five-minute roleplay, you move quietly from pair to pair. You note ‘they said *he go* twice’ and ‘good use of hedging.’ You collect material for the feedback stage.

Try — In your next speaking task, carry a notepad. Write two or three examples of strong language and two or three errors. At the end, put them on the board without attribution.
