Idea — The follow-up task connects what learners read or heard to their own experience. It ensures the lesson ends with the learner as subject, not the text — and gives speaking or writing practice.

Example — After reading about remote work, the follow-up is: ‘Would you prefer to work from home? Tell your partner two reasons.’ The text sparked the topic; now learners own it.

Try — Take a recent reading lesson. What was the final task? Was it text-based or learner-centred? Rewrite it to start with ‘In your experience…’ or ‘Have you ever…’
