ELT365 · Day 164 — Gist first, then detail

June 23, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Stage listening from easy to hard: first play for gist, then replay for specific information or detail. Each pass has a different, narrower task, which protects confidence.

Example — First listen: "Where are they?" Second listen: "What three things do they order?" Same audio, deeper focus.

Try — Take one audio and split it into two tasks — gist for play one, detail for play two. Never ask for detail on a first listen.
