ELT365 · Day 163 — Authentic Audio in Class

June 26, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Authentic audio was made for real speakers. It exposes reduced speech, overlapping turns, and natural pace — all things graded recordings hide.

Example — A BBC Radio discussion moves fast, speakers interrupt, and words reduce. A coursebook audio says the same thing at two-thirds the speed.

Try — Choose one authentic clip of 90 seconds. Set a single achievable gist task. Reflect: what made it harder than graded audio, and was that useful?
