Idea — Skimming means reading quickly for overall meaning — not every word. Readers use titles, headings, first and last sentences, and key words to build a mental outline.

Example — Before buying a book, most people read the back cover, a chapter title, and the first paragraph. That is skimming in action.

Try — Give learners a one-page article. Allow 60 seconds. Ask: what is it about, and what is the writer’s main point? Check accuracy.
