ELT365 · D159 — While-Listening Tasks That Stay Out of the Way

Idea — Tasks during listening should be light enough to do and listen at the same time. Ticking boxes and ordering pictures work; writing sentences does not.

Example — Learners number five events in order as they listen. Simple, doable, tracks content without blocking listening.

Try — Look at a task you currently give during listening. Can a learner do it and listen simultaneously? If not, redesign it as a post-listening task.
