Idea — Collaborative writing tasks require genuine interdependence — each writer has a role (planner, drafter, editor) that the group needs. When any learner can write everything alone, collaboration is redundant.

Example — Jigsaw writing: Group A writes the introduction, Group B the argument, Group C the counterargument, Group D the conclusion. Each group reads only what precedes their section.

Try — Assign roles before your next group writing task: planner, drafter, editor. Keep the roles for the duration. Debrief: which role felt hardest?
