ELT365 · Day 206 — Fluency activities — anecdote and storytelling

July 3, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Anecdote tasks ask learners to tell a personal story in 2–3 minutes. They are highly motivating, language-rich, and generate natural spoken grammar — ellipsis, discourse markers, backchannelling. Minimal teacher input required.

Example — ‘Tell your partner about a time things went wrong on a journey.’ No grammar target. No vocabulary list. Just a human story that everyone has.

Try — Run a 3-minute anecdote task this week. While learners talk, listen for good language and one shared error. Run a 2-minute language feedback using examples from what you heard.
