Idea — A writing lesson has three stages: pre-writing (generate ideas, activate genre knowledge), writing (draft), and post-writing (feedback, revise). Skip one and quality drops.

Example — Skipping pre-writing produces thin, poorly organised drafts. Skipping post-writing removes the feedback loop and the learning opportunity.

Try — Plan a 50-minute writing lesson for a genre your learners need. Allocate time to each stage. What gets the most time, and why?
