ELT365 · Day 200 — Mixed-ability speaking groups — roles that equalise

July 5, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Mixed-ability speaking groups fail when stronger learners dominate. Role cards that assign specific responsibilities force every learner to contribute regardless of level.

Example — Role cards: Timekeeper (controls who speaks how long), Reporter (shares the group’s conclusion), Devil’s Advocate (must challenge at least one point).

Try — Assign one structured role per learner in your next group speaking task.
