ELT365 · Day 191 — The Task-Based Speaking Cycle (Willis)

Idea — Willis’s TBL cycle: pre-task (introduce topic, activate language) → task (meaning first) → planning and report (prepare to present) → language focus (reflect on what was used).

Example — Task: plan a surprise party on a budget. Learners use any language, then present their plan, then the teacher highlights emerging language patterns.

Try — Design a 15-minute TBL cycle for a B1 class. Which stage do you usually skip? Plan to include it this time.
