ELT365 · Day 191 — Error correction in speaking — delayed vs immediate

Idea — Correct mid-fluency task: you interrupt flow and discourage risk-taking. Correct after the task: you address language without breaking communication. Immediate correction suits accuracy stages; delayed suits fluency stages.

Example — During a role play (fluency), note ‘She go to school yesterday’ on your board. After the task, elicit the correct form from the class.

Try — Choose one speaking activity you plan this week. Decide in advance: will you correct immediately or delay? Write it in your plan and explain why.
