Idea — Productive skills — speaking and writing — require learners to generate language, not just receive it. They are demanding because accuracy, fluency, and appropriacy must align at the same moment.

Example — A learner who understands a grammar rule perfectly in a reading exercise may still fail to use it in spontaneous speech — production is a separate skill.

Try — Ask learners: which is harder for you — speaking or writing in English, and why? Collect reasons. The answers reveal their current gaps.
