ELT365 · Day 173 — Using transcripts — when and how
Idea — A transcript is a support tool, not a first resort. Use it after two listens. Let learners read while the audio plays, not instead of it. The comparison reveals what they missed.
Example — After two listens, learners follow the transcript while the audio plays. They hear the gaps. Then teach the connected speech that caused them.
Try — Use a transcript in your next listening lesson — but only after two full listens without it. Note what learners discover.
