ELT365 · Day 161 — Dictogloss — the collaborative listening task

July 3, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Dictogloss is a reconstruction task: play a text at natural speed, learners note key words, then rebuild the meaning in groups. Grammar emerges from communicative need.

Example — Play a news paragraph twice. Learners write individually, then compare notes and rebuild the text in pairs. No transcript yet — that comes after.

Try — Write a 60-word dictogloss paragraph on a topic your class has studied this month.
