Idea — Listening for specific information means scanning the audio stream much as eyes scan a page. Learners know what they want before they hear it and filter everything else out.

Example — Flight arrivals boards train this skill: passengers listen only for their flight number and gate.

Try — Play a short news clip. Tell learners in advance to listen only for the country mentioned. Debrief: what did they ignore? What held their attention?
