Idea — Video adds visual clues — gesture, facial expression, setting — that support comprehension. It’s not always easier: visual distractors can compete with listening.

Example — A learner watches a cooking show. The visuals confirm verb meanings (chopping, stirring) that the audio alone wouldn’t convey.

Try — Use a clip with the sound off first. What can learners infer? Then play with sound. What did the visuals confirm or mislead?
