📖 From My Life

In hospitality, routine is survival. At Merivale in Sydney — one of the biggest hospitality groups in Australia — every shift started the same: check the reservation list, set the floor, brief the team. Miss one step and the whole evening suffered. Routine in English uses the Present Simple tense. Here’s how.

🎯 Language Focus

Form Subject + base verb (+ -s for he/she/it)
I/You/We/They wake up, eat, go, work, finish
He/She/It wakes up, eats, goes, works, finishes
Negative I don’t / He doesn’t + base verb

✏️ Quick Practice — Try It!

1. Correct: “She wake up at 6am.”

She wakes up at 6am ✓ (she → + -s).
2. Negative: “They work on Sundays.” → make it negative.

They don’t work on Sundays ✓.
3. Fill: “He ___ (go) to the market every Saturday.”

goes ✓.
4. Write YOUR routine: I wake up at ___ and then I ___.

Your answer!.

👶 For Young Learners

⏰ Draw a clock for each thing you do: wake up, eat breakfast, go to school. Write the English verb under each clock!

💡 Your 5-Minute Takeaway

He/she/it + -s is the one rule learners forget most. “She goes” not “she go.” Say it ten times. Write it five times. Then it sticks.
