YL · Digital Tools for Young Learner Classes

Idea — Digital tools in YL classes work best when they extend activity, not replace it. A flashcard app is more effective when followed by a physical game using the same vocabulary. Screen time needs a clear pedagogical purpose.

Example — Quizlet for vocabulary review, Google Slides for a digital word wall, Padlet for a class display of learner writing — each has a specific function. Use one tool per lesson, not three.

Try — Choose one digital tool you have never used with YL learners. Plan how you would use it for exactly 5 minutes as part of a lesson where most of the time is spent away from screens.
