ELT365 · Day 248 — Selecting Target Language

Idea

Target language is the specific item you are teaching: a structure, a set of lexical chunks, a functional exponent. Analyse it before you plan any stages.

Example

If you are teaching ‘used to’, write out its form, meaning, and pronunciation before writing a single stage of the plan.

Try

Choose the target language for your next lesson. Write MFPA (Meaning, Form, Pronunciation, Appropriacy) before opening the coursebook.
