ELT365 · Day 224 — Managing Mixed-Level Classes

📚60-Day ELT Masterclass — This post is part of an ongoing series. View full index →

Idea

Mixed ability is the norm, not the exception. The question is not how to remove the gap but how to use it — faster learners support slower ones when tasks allow.

Example

An open information-gap task lets A2 learners communicate at their level while B1 learners use more complex structures to fill the same information hole.

Try

Take one task from your coursebook. Write a simpler version and a more challenging extension for the same core activity.
