ELT365 · Day 160 — Listening for Specific Information

Idea — Listening for specific information means filtering the stream for one target — a number, a name, a time — and treating the rest as noise. It is the listening equivalent of scanning.

Example — A departure announcement: the listener waits for the flight number and ignores the weather, the gate changes, and the boarding call until that number appears.

Try — Play a short weather report. Ask only: “What is the high temperature?” Anyone who rewinds the whole clip has stopped scanning.
