Inversion for Emphasis: Never Had I Seen…
By Sourov Deb — Cambridge CELTA course completed — 120 supervised teaching hours and four written assignments validated to the required standard.
“Never had I seen a horizon so vast. Rarely had I felt so small and so alive at the same time.”
Inversion made those words feel as vast as the view.
What is inversion?
In standard English: Subject + Auxiliary + Verb
With inversion: Adverbial + Auxiliary + Subject + Verb
Inverted: Never had I seen such a view.
