🔀 Second Conditional: What Would You Do?

📖 From Sourov’s world: Someone once asked me: “If you could go back to 2005, would you still move to Sydney?” I said: “Yes — but I would learn more English first.” That “would” and “if” are doing serious grammatical work. This is the conditional that lets you talk about imaginary choices — the most human kind of grammar.

🔑 Second Conditional — Form

“If I had more time, I would learn Japanese.”
“If she lived in Paris, she would speak French every day.”
“What would you do if you won the lottery?”

💡 Note: Use “were” for all subjects with “to be” in formal/written English:
“If I were you, I would apply for the job.” (not “was” — though “was” is common in speech)

⚠️ Common Mistake

❌ “If I will have time, I would go.” — wrong: no “will” in the if-clause
❌ “If I had time, I will go.” — wrong: no mixing with first conditional
✅ “If I had time, I would go.” — both halves in the correct form
