ELT365 · Day 270 — Planning for Mixed-Ability Groups

July 13, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea

Mixed-ability planning means building in choice: an extension task for faster finishers, a support scaffold for those who need it. One plan, two pathways.

Example

A writing task gives all learners the same rubric. The support scaffold is a sentence starter; the extension is an additional paragraph prompt.

Try

Take your next writing task. Write one support scaffold and one extension. Make both available without announcing who you expect to use which.
