ELT365 · Day 199 — The learner journal — extensive writing at low stakes

July 5, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — A learner journal is regular, personal, ungraded writing. It builds writing habit, fluency, and vocabulary without product pressure. Teachers respond to the content, not the errors.

Example — “Write five sentences about your week, your opinion, or a question you have” — weekly, five minutes, no red pen.

Try — Introduce a journal task this week. Respond to two learners’ content with your own view. Do not correct grammar.
