ELT365 · Day 196 — Guided writing — sentence frames and models
Idea — Guided writing sits between controlled and free. Sentence frames, partial texts, and model analysis give learners structural support while allowing some choice of content. It works well at A2–B1.
Example — ‘I am writing to complain about… On [date], I… I would like you to…’ The frame is given; the learner fills in the specifics.
Try — Write three sentence frames for a writing type your class needs (email, report, story). Share the frames on the board. Learners complete them with their own content. Compare outputs.
