Idea — Pair and group work multiply talking time but collapse without clear instructions, roles and timing. Set the task, form the groups, then start — never start before learners know what to do.

Example — "In threes, agree the top three packing items. You have four minutes. Go." — task, grouping, time, go.

Try — Script the exact words you will use to launch your next group task. Include the grouping and the time limit before "go".
