ELT365 · Day 195 — Guided Writing: Models, Not Molds
Idea — A model text shows learners what the target genre looks like — its structure, register, and key phrases. Guided writing uses the model as a resource to analyse, not a template to copy.
Example — Learners analyse a formal email for greeting, purpose, request, and close. They then write their own on a different scenario — same structure, original content.
Try — Take a model text you use. Ask learners to label its stages before they write. Do they understand why each stage is there?
