ELT365 · Day 191 — Roleplay — Setting It Up

July 17, 2026 · Sourov · 1 min read

Idea — Roleplay works when learners know the scenario, the relationship between characters, and the goal. Vague setups produce vague language.

Example — ‘You are a tenant. Your landlord is raising the rent by 40%. Negotiate.’ Clear stakes, clear relationship, clear outcome.

Try — Take a roleplay you use. Check: is the scenario clear? Is the relationship clear? Is the goal stated? Fix any gap.
