ELT365 · Day 191 — Building fluency through repetition
Idea — Repeating the same task under mild time pressure can boost fluency: the second and third tellings come faster and smoother. The 4/3/2 technique — tell a story in four minutes, then three, then two — is one example.
Example — A learner retelling a weekend three times with shrinking time grows visibly more fluent each round.
Try — Try a shrinking-time retell: same topic, new partner, less time each round. Listen for smoother delivery, not new content.
