ELT365 · Day 186 — Drilling: Choral → Individual → Substitution

Idea — Drilling is repetition for pronunciation and automatisation. Move from choral (everyone together) to individual (one learner) to substitution (swap one element). Never drill before meaning is clear.

Example — Choral: “She’s been working here for five years.” Individual: spot-check four learners. Substitution: “She’s been living in Paris for two years.”

Try — Take one target sentence from your next lesson. Write a 3-step drill sequence. Practise delivering it; keep total drill time under two minutes.
