ELT365 · Day 160 — Note-taking while listening
Idea — Note-taking is a productive sub-skill, not a shortcut. Teach learners to write key words and numbers, not full sentences — full sentences cost them the next sentence.
Example — “Company profits rose in Q3” → notes: profits ↑ Q3. Full-sentence note: “Company prof—” and Q3 is gone.
Try — Give learners a two-minute spoken text. Tell them to note only nouns and numbers. Review what they caught.
