Idea — Connected speech features — linking, elision, assimilation, weak forms — cause more listening failures than vocabulary gaps.

Example — ‘What are you going to do?’ becomes ‘Whatcha gonna do?’ at natural speed. Understanding the reduced form requires ear-training, not vocabulary study.

Try — Record yourself saying ‘I don’t know’ naturally. Transcribe what you actually hear, not what you wrote. Now compare to a learner’s production.
