📖 From the teacher’s desk: Moving from Sydney to La Réunion with Vanessa and our young son was one of the biggest adventures of my life — and one of the hardest. A new language, a new culture, a new climate, a new everything. Many of my adult students in Brittany had similar stories of relocation, and talking about change and new beginnings always produced authentic, emotional conversation.

🔥 Warm Up (1 min)
Have you ever moved to a new place? A new city, a new country, a new neighbourhood? How did it feel at first? One word is fine!
📖 Learn It (2 min)
Key vocabulary and phrases for talking about relocating:
“The hardest part was getting used to [the weather / the pace of life].”
“At first, I found it difficult to… but eventually I got used to it.”
“What I miss most is… / What I’ve gained is…”
✏️ Try It (2 min)
Answer these questions in full sentences:
- Have you ever lived somewhere new? What was the biggest challenge?
- What’s one thing you miss about a place you’ve left?
- What’s one thing you gained from a new experience or change?
Discussion: “Is moving abroad more exciting or more frightening?” Discuss for 2 minutes using vocabulary from above.
